Prepare an area for the boat’s construction. The area will need to be large enough for the finished boat, plus have room to work around the boat, including space for walkways and room to move and swing any associated parts. The area must also have a large enough entrance/exit to allow the boat to be removed from the work area once completed.
Once the boat is finished, it will be exposed to the weather for much of its life. Even so, some exterior material, like marine plywood, has exposed edges that should not be exposed until sealed and finished. Interior paneling and wood used for interior furnishings should be protected until they are installed at the end of the process.
